Privacy Notice
Last updated September 2, 2026
My Big Family Tree is a private genealogy archive. This notice explains what information we collect during an access request and how we use it to verify requests and protect family records.
Information we collect
An access request may include your name, email, phone number, family connection, protected password, payment note, and an optional mailing address. To prevent fraud and spam, we also record submission time, IP address, browser details, time zone, and an approximate network location when available.
How we use information
We use this information to verify family connections, match a payment to a request, decide access, send administrative notices, apply family-tree permissions, and protect the archive from misuse.
External payments
The website does not collect card numbers, Venmo passwords, or banking credentials. Venmo is an external service with its own terms and privacy practices. Do not put bank information or complete transaction details in the request form.
Access and sharing
Applications and security details are available only to authorized administrators and technical providers needed for hosting and message delivery. We do not sell access-request information.
Retention and your requests
We keep information as reasonably needed to review a request, document access decisions, administer an account, and protect the archive. You may ask the archive administrator to correct or delete application information; some security records may be retained when needed to prevent abuse or meet applicable obligations.
Living people
Do not submit sensitive information about living relatives without their permission. Approved genealogy records remain behind restricted member access.
Contact
For privacy questions or requests concerning your information, contact the archive administrator through the same channel used for your access request or approval.
